Virtual Plant Model
Imagine the benefits of conducting training and competency assessment
activities in a three-dimensional virtual environment that replicates the design
and layout of the actual facility, even before construction is complete.
Trainees could perform operations procedures; isolate and study specific
systems; and retrieve relevant operations, maintenance and safety materials
through a virtual model. Baker’s unique Virtual Plant Model (VPM) allows
trainees to practice and learn in an environment free from costly consequences
or disruptions to operations and reduces the time and costs associated with
preparing operators for their responsibilities.
Through the integration of VPM technology into our suite
of multimedia training tools, Baker offers our clients all of
the benefits associated with state-of-the-art multimedia operator training and
competency assessment in a virtual environment. Giving operation trainees the
ability to navigate through and perform typical operations procedures in a 3-D
replica of the facility in which they will be working results in increased
comprehension and knowledge retention. Conducting the training and assessment in
a virtual environment reduces the time and costs associated with preparing new operators for their
responsibilities or cross-training existing operators into a new facility.
As with all of Baker’s training activities, the ultimate goal of the training
and competency assessment activities using the VPM is the preparation of a
workforce with the skills and abilities needed to operate in a safe and
efficient manner that results in increased run-time and reduced production
costs.
