The mission of Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is to protect the commonwealth's air, land, and water from pollution and to provide for the health and safety of its citizens through a cleaner environment. The Department’s Superfund Program activities, in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, have resulted in Pennsylvania being a national leader in achieving cleanup results. Through two consecutive contracts with the DEP, Baker has supported several programs, including investigation and remediation of “orphan” sites throughout the state under the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Program, Storage Tank Program, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Corrective Action Program activities. Baker’s 100-plus work assignments have included program management, database management, site investigations and engineering studies under the Key Sites Initiative, site investigations under the Storage Tank Program, remedial design, feasibility studies, construction inspection and post-remediation engineering support, site characterization studies, indoor air quality investigations and health assessments, operation and maintenance services, and third-party technical review and support under the RCRA and Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act (HSCA).
