Laura L. Toole has been elected president, and Robert G. Hoffmann, P.E., has been elected chief executive officer, of Baker Engineering NY, Inc., which is based in Elmsford, New York, with offices in Long Island City, New York; Rocky Hill, Connecticut; and Boston, Massachusetts. Baker Engineering NY (BENY) is a unit of Michael Baker Corporation (Amex:BKR).

As president, Toole will manage the full provision of transportation, facilities and construction management and inspection services that Baker offers throughout New York and New England. With over 25 years of experience, she has specialized in strategic public involvement programs for high-profile transportation projects around the United States. She joined Baker in 2002 as director of planning and, as part of the company´s national transportation practice, grew public involvement into a full-service offering for Baker´s clients. A long-time member of the Women´s Transportation Seminar, she currently serves on the Advisory Boards of the Greater New York Chapter and the International Board. She is a graduate of Vassar College.
As chief executive officer, Hoffmann will be responsible for the technical oversight and direction for all engineering design and construction management contracts for the unit. He has over 31 years of wide-ranging engineering experience on domestic and international assignments. He rejoined Baker in 2001 and served as vice president of BENY prior to this new appointment. He is active in the Society of American Military Engineers and is currently president of the New York State Parking Association and treasurer of the Joint Urban Manpower Program. He holds a Bachelor´s Degree in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College and is a registered professional engineer in the State of New York.
