Post Storm Recovery Procedure

Location: East Coast of the United States

Services include:

  • Business continuity recovery
  • Employee safety
  • Shipyard safety
  • Damage assessment and debris clearance

Following a severe storm, a major shipyard on the East Coast faced the challenge of resuming normal business operations after essential services were reestablished and the shipyard made secure. More than 19,000 employees needed return to work. Baker developed a post-storm business continuity recovery procedure for the facility, establishing a general plan of action to follow when information is received on a catastrophic hurricane, destructive storm, or other severe weather that may strike the area. The procedure was designed to protect personnel, ships, equipment, and plant property to the maximum extent practicable, most notably from a storm surge. Baker focused its efforts on resumption of services to critical customers and vessels, securing special nuclear materials and classified information, ensuring the safety of shipyard personnel, damage assessment, and debris clearance, ensuring the documentation of costs for insurance reimbursement, returning personnel to the shipyard, and restoring shipyard operations to full production status.
