For Utah DOT, Baker’s innovative, eight-month, cost-efficient deck replacement solution included literally lifting off a deteriorating bridge deck along SR 4500 which passes over a section of I-215 near Salt Lake City, and replacing it with a brand new deck built along the side of the highway.  The new deck was then driven down the road and set in place atop new abutments.  All of this had to be completed in one weekend within full view of the taxpaying public, visiting dignitaries from federal and other state transportation agencies, and the news media.
