Bob Kallenbaugh, P.E., chief executive officer of RBF Consulting (RBF), a company of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE Amex: BKR), was recently recognized by the Cal Poly Pomona Alumni Association with the 2012 College of Engineering Distinguished Alumnus Award. Kallenbaugh, a 1974 Civil Engineering graduate of California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, was honored at the Distinguished Alumni Awards Dinner on April 27. The awards were created to honor alumni who have attained success professionally and through personal involvement within their community and the university.
Kallenbaugh, with over 37 years of experience, is a leader in the engineering field and has contributed significantly to the continuing growth and success of RBF. He is a member of the Civil Engineering Industry Action Council at Cal Poly Pomona, dedicating his efforts to higher education; is an active member of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of California and past president of the Consulting Engineers and Land Surveying Organization of California (CELSOC); a member of Urban Land Institute (ULI); and dedicates his leadership in the engineering field to many other professional and community organizations in his pursuit of excellence in engineering.
In addition to being honored with a Distinguished Alumnus Award, Kallenbaugh has accepted the invitation to join the Dean’s Leadership Board for the College of Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona. As a board member he will play a key role in refining and implementing the strategic plan for the college. Kallenbaugh, along with College of Engineering Dean Dr. Mahyar Amouzegar and members of the Board, will collaborate on new opportunities, developing innovative ideas and approaches, and setting short- and long-term objectives.
"It’s one of the greatest honors of my lifetime to receive the 2012 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Cal Poly Pomona College of Engineering," stated Kallenbaugh. "I can think of no greater way to give back to the University that gave me my initial engineering education than to serve on the Dean’s Leadership Board for the College of Engineering. I look forward to helping to foster the “learn by doing” approach that attracted me to Cal Poly years ago."
