Michael Baker Jr., Inc., a unit of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE MKT:BKR) is pleased to announce that Cheng Lok (Caleb) Hing, Ph.D., P.E., F.SEI, structural engineer in the Arlington, Texas, office, was recently honored as a member of Structural Engineering Institute’s (SEI) inaugural class of SEI Fellows at Structures Congress on March 31 in Chicago, Ill., and was also selected as one of fifteen 2012 Rising Stars in Structural Engineering by ZweigWhite’s Structural Engineer Magazine.
The SEI Fellow member grade was established to recognize a select group of distinguished SEI members as leaders and mentors in the structural engineering profession. The Rising Stars award was created to recognize structural engineers who have shown exceptional technical capability, leadership ability, effective teaching or research, and/or public service benefiting the structural engineering profession, their employers, project owners, and/or society.
In addition to working full-time for Baker, Hing is serving as adjunct faculty for The University of Texas at Arlington Civil Engineering Department while also conducting research in collaboration with the Department involving ground penetrating radar. Furthermore, Caleb is active in professional associations, such as American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and SEI. He is serving as ASCE Fort Worth Branch director, ASCE Texas Section director, co-chairing Texas Section’s Centennial Technical Program Committee, past president of SEI Fort Worth Chapter, past chair of SEI Local Activities Division Executive Committee and currently the Chair of SEI’s Public Relations Committee. Caleb is a graduate of West Virginia University.
