IRVINE, Calif. – July 3, 2012

RBF Consulting (RBF), a company of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE MKT:BKR), is pleased to announce that Carlos Ortiz, P.E., T.E., PTOE, vice president of Transportation, was recently elected by the membership of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, Western District, to the position of secretary-treasurer. The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is a professional society of more than 15,000 transportation engineers, planners and other professionals in some 80 countries.

Ortiz has been an active member of ITE for over 20 years, holding numerous board positions, including president of both the Southern California and Riverside-San Bernardino Sections. He is past president of the Orange County Traffic Engineers Council (OCTEC) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Younger Member Forum (YMF) Orange County; and an active member with ASCE, OCTEC, American Public Works Association (APWA) and the Intelligent Transportation Society of California (ITS CA).

Ortiz is a 1989 graduate of California Polytechnic University, Pomona, holds a Professional Civil Engineer license in California and Arizona, is a licensed Traffic Engineer in California and a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer. A team member with RBF since 1992, he currently serves as vice president in the firm’s Irvine, Calif., office, and is an expert in intelligent transportation systems, a nationally recognized speaker and a leader within the Company.
