RBF's Susan Harden Appointed to California Planning Roundtable

IRVINE, Calif., - July 19, 2012

Susan Harden, AICP, CMSM, LEED AP, CNU-A, vice president of Planning for RBF Consulting (RBF), a company of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE MKT:BKR), recently accepted an appointment to the California Planning Roundtable (CPR). Formed in 1980 by the California Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA), CPR is an organization of experienced planning professionals who are members of APA. CPR provides a forum for prominent planners to exercise creativity and leadership in promoting understanding of California’s critical public policy issues, and recommending action.

“At a time when California is facing serious public policy issues, Susan’s wide ranging experience and insightful perspective will significantly contribute to the important efforts of the California Planning Roundtable,” stated Michael Burke, RBF executive vice president.

Harden is a graduate of the University of Kansas, with a B.A. in Architectural Studies and Environmental Studies, and holds a Master of Environmental Planning degree from Arizona State University. An RBF team member since 1999, she currently serves as vice president of Planning in RBF’s Irvine, Calif. office and focuses her efforts on community-based planning processes, developing innovative public participation programs for downtown and neighborhood revitalization, comprehensive planning, healthy communities, mobility plans, and urban design projects.

Harden is an active member of American Institute of Certified Planners, National Main Street Center, American Planning Association, California Planning Association, Arizona Planning Association, Oregon Planning Association, Washington Planning Association, and the International Association of Public Participation. She is a nationally recognized speaker and co-author of numerous articles in industry publications. Harden is also co-author of an APA Planners Advisory Service Report titled “Placemaking On A Budget: Improving Small Towns, Neighborhoods and Downtowns Without Spending A Lot of Money.” She has taught urban planning courses at CalPoly Pomona University, CalState Fullerton University Extension Education program and University California Irvine where she continues to teach a Healthy Communities practicum course in the graduate planning program.
